The History of Valentine’s Day.

February has long been celebrated as the month of romance, and the roots of Valentine’s Day can be traced back to both Christian and ancient Roman tradition.

Most of what we know is legend, one of which being Valentine a priest during the third century in Rome married young lovers in secret, when Emperor Cludius II decided that single men made better soldier’s than married ones. Claudius ordered Valentine’s death when he discovered his betrayal.

Another story is that Valentine was killed helping Christians escape Roman prisons, and an imprisoned Valentine sent the first ‘ valentine’ greeting himself. He wrote a letter signed ‘From your Valentine’ ┬ápossibly to a jailor’s daughter before his death.

Valentine’s Day February 14th is now one of the most celebrated day’s of the year, so why not send something special this year with one of our Stuffed Balloons.
